Children are open to manipulation
because they have no way of knowing
whether affection is genuine—
and if harm comes to them,
most will never disclose. At the time.
Instead, they will live a confused existence
in which the people they love and depend on
also bring them pain they can’t talk about.
And so while we went to the moon years ago,
we still haven’t figured out how to see, hear, and heal
our own hurting children.
Today, professionals regularly fail to become anything but hostile toward children and their advocates.
Sometimes, it’s fatal.
